Hi, I've noticed a trend with almost all RPGs that I have played that they either start out as, or become a kitchen sink setting. I've got no issue with this. my setting is very kitchen sink too... but most novels and other media don't always go that route. In fact, novels set in kitchen sink universes tend to ground everything out a little. I understand that the fundamental of Game Setting design is to give the players options and to prevent the game from becoming stale. I also know that not all rabbit is meant to be chased down it's rabbit hole but the fact that they exist in the game means that eventually people are going to get eaten by the vorpal rabbit. So,my question is this? Can a setting be successful and fun without being, or becoming a Kitchen sink setting? I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
