They were randomly assigned to one of two week-long treatment plans. The first involves using the one developed by the researchers. The second is a popular app that contains a series of white noises. Respondents were required to use the app for at least two hours per day. The mobile app offers three sections: Passive Listening, Active Listening and Consulting. The first section contains a library of relaxing sounds, such as the sounds of the sea or a waterfall. They calm the patient down and divert their attention from tinnitus to pleasant sounds. In C Level Contact List the active listening part, users are asked to complete tasks: for example, adjust the volume of tinnitus-like sounds, understand of the sound in space, etc. In the counseling section, patients can learn more about tinnitus and how to use sound for quality sleep, focus control, relaxation and deep breathing exercises. As a result, patients who used the app had less tinnitus. White noise light does not affect the health of the experimental participants. According to a professor of audiology at the University of Auckland, the therapy rewires the brain so that it sees tinnitus as background noise, rather than focusing on it. Noises in the ears are known as extraneous sounds that a person hears even though there is no external source that can create them.
